Pregnant Woman
Birth Coach/Doula

What is a birth coach/doula?

A birth coach, also known as a doula is someone who is trained in childbirth and provides emotional, physical, and educational support to a mother/couple who is expecting, is experiencing labor, or has recently given birth. Their purpose is to help women have a safe, memorable, and empowering birthing experience.

I’m a former labor & delivery nurse and mom of 3. I completed a DONA certified workshop with Ana Paula Markel in California in 2016. I chose this program because of the instructor. I had heard of and seen her presence in the birth world through watching the movie The Business of Being Born and was so honored to learn from her in person.

I knew I wanted to work with women in labor and taking this course has helped my overall practice. I am also BLS/ACLS/NRP certified.

My philosophy

Physiological birth. I believe this means allowing your body to go through labor under its own innate power. It is the process of labor, birth and the first hour after delivery for you and your baby!

I am also a huge advocate of safety and informed consent.

I loved being a Labor and Delivery nurse but as time went on I realized I wanted more of a connection with the people I was helping. With a medical background but a heart grounded in supporting physiologic birth I am very excited to be offering birth support services with BirthBabyBody.
